WATER ACTIVITY SERIES BY ROTRONIC
HYGROPALM 23
HYGROLAB 2 BENCHTOP WATER ACTIVITY ANALYZER
The HygroLab 2 Set consists of the following:

The HygroLab 2 is a bench-top water activity meter with 4 probe inputs. When connected to a PC running the HW4 software, any of the following operating modes may be used:

AwQuick: accelerated water activity measurement with automatic end of measurement
AwE: conventional water activity measurement with automatic detection of equilibrium and automatic end of measurement
Standard: water activity and temperature measurement, limited to just indicating the values and the trend of the values
The HW4 software offers additional functions such as the automatic capture of end values, as well as data logging and a live graph. Up to 4 probes can be run simultaneously.

The HygroLab 2 is compatible with all the models of HygroClip probes to permit the direct measurement of products in bulk and quality control of packaging materials. The probes used with the HygroLab 3 can be calibrated and adjusted at one or more values, directly from the instrument keypad. Reference humidity values are provided by using the ROTRONIC certified humidity standards.
HYGROLAB 3 BENCHTOP WATER ACTIVITY ANALYZER
The HygroLab 3 Set consists of the following:

The HygroLab 3 is a bench-top water activity meter with 4 probe inputs. It features three operating modes:

Up to 4 probes can be run simultaneously in the same mode. The HygroLab 3 is compatible with all the models of HygroClip probes to permit the direct measurement of products in bulk and quality control of packaging materials. The probes used with the HygroLab 3 can be calibrated and adjusted at one or more values, directly from the instrument keypad. Reference humidity values are provided by using the ROTRONIC certified humidity standards.

When installed on a PC (Windows XP or Vista required), the HW4 software offers additional functions such as the automatic capture of end values, as well as data logging and a live graph.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Water activity (aw) is one of the most critical factors in determining quality and safety of the goods you consume every day. Water activity affects the shelf life, safety, texture, flavor, and smell of foods.

It is also important to the stability of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. While temperature, pH and several other factors can influence if and how fast organisms will grow in a product, water activity may be the most important factor in controlling spoilage. Most bacteria, for example, do not grow at water activities below 0.91, and most molds cease to grow at water activities below 0.80. By measuring water activity, it is possible to predict which microorganisms will and will not be potential sources of spoilage. Water activity--not water content--determines the lower limit of available water for microbial growth. In addition to influencing microbial spoilage, water activity can play a significant role in determining the activity of enzymes and vitamins in foods and can have a major impact their color, taste, and aroma. It can also significantly impact the potency and consistency of pharmaceuticals.

The HygroPalm23 is the latest development of handheld instrument for relative humidity, temperature and all psychrometric values such as dewpoint and absolute humidity.  It features twin probe inputs, can datalog up to 20000 values and is fully configurable using a PC.

Two probe inputs are especially useful when performing on-site calibration checks on fixed transmitters. The dual inputs can also accept analogue signals, so the HP23 can be used with a pressure or airflow sensor.  A truly universal handheld instrument.
